So if you haven't heard already, working with two-year olds can be totally hillarious. 

(it can also be completely complicated.)

But... mostly just hillarious. 

Today, one of my dear homies who has sass like no other, awesome wild hair, and sings Harry Potter songs made my day. (She also calls me Africa.) During nap time she was over in her own little world on her mat, screaming on the top of her lungs, "Down by the station, early in the morning..." 

Realistically, it is impossible to ever get annoyed with this kid. She is just so dang funny. So I turn to her and say, "It's time to be quiet. It's nap time, lay down." So naturally she turns to me with her sassiest face and says, "SHHHH, Africa. SHHH."

Voodoo

Who am I kidding. I am the world's WORST blogger when it comes to any form of consistency. But guess what? We are still living in Portland, Adam is going to school, I am still partying with my little homies, and we still love it! 

There is so much to catch up on that it is kind of overwhelming, so I have opted for a more simple solution, pretend nothing exciting has happened and pick up right now. :)

Mom came to visit this weekend from good ol' Modesto! We tried lots of adventurous things- such as riding the air tram at OHSU! 

However, the most adventurous thing of all was eating a Voodoo donuts. 

First off, here is a list (because you know how I love me some lists) of all of my hesitations about this place:
#1) The name.

#2) Supposedly, there is some sketch donut that they invented with Pepto Bismol and Nyquil that got banned by the FDA. 

#3) The names of the donuts (that I had heard of) were suspicious.

#4) Numbers 1-3 again.

So yeah, this place seemed sketchy to me, but everyone (everyone) kept saying, "Oh Voodoo donuts, we love you. Everyone has to eat there... it's fabulous..."

So we went, and it was awesome! Let me clear the air about my previously mentioned hesitations. So, the name is the same. The creepy donut is gone. And there are only a few sketchy named donuts. Can I please mention the pure awesomeness of the place?

#1) They teach Swahili lessons apparently every Tuesday night.

#2) The outside walls are painted with glitter. Literally, glitter on the walls.

#3) There are cute little picnic tables outside to eat on and to watch the funnies walk by.

#4) There are donuts of all kinds in this place. I got an oreo coated one. They had Captain Crunch donuts, bacon and maple donuts... all kinds. (They have normal ol' donuts, too.) 

a new job

This is where I work now!

I get to teach little kids. They are definitely younger than first grade, but I think it is going to be tons of fun. 

(and there will be TONS of stories)

Benefits to having this job:

• I get to work with little kids.
• The preschool is brand new with awesome supplies (like a Smart Board)!
• It is about fifteen minutes away.
• I have about 400 different options concerning transportation to my new job. Today I drove. The drive involves the Pearl District, Pioneer Square, and beautiful views all up and down the river. Tomorrow I am going to take the MAX (it's like the BART in San Francisco). 
• The building is right next to OHSU, seriously like 5 seconds away. That means that if I get a lunch break at the same time as Adam, we can party together!
• Did you look at the pictures on that link up above? Need I say more. I mean really, an indoor playground? Super legit.

So yes, I am excited. I will keep you posted with stories and such in the coming weeks.

a trip to the coast

This week has been wonderful. On Wednesday, we took a trip to the coast of Oregon. 

It is definitely not quite the same as Newport, California, but hey... a beach is a beach, mossy rocks and all.

 We also stopped by the Tillamook cheese factory. Delicious! 

P.S. If you ever want to stop eating cheese, just watch a video of it being made.

grand celebration

Hello friends! So sorry that it has been so long since I have last posted. I promise to be good now and post more often. There sure are a lot of changes since I've last put pictures up! 

1. We graduated! =D
2. We live in beautiful (and rainy) Portland!
3. We are in love with our new apartment, complete with dishwasher, washer, and dryer.
4. We went to Disneyworld on a Grand Celebration with the family.

 Adam and I at HARRY POTTER WORLD! We had so much fun. This is Hogsmeade in the background. There is also a Hogwarts replica, complete with awesome ride. We drank butter beer, got chocolate frogs, went to Olivander's, and saw the actors Fred and George. True story.

 This is the coolest restaurant ever. It's a restaurant where they show Sci-Fi movies from the 50's and you eat in cute little cars. There is even a real looking night sky around you. It is AWESOME.

We had so much fun on our Grand Celebration! I want to go back to Orlando right now! Love you all... be back soon!

2011 so far

I am a terrible, terrible blogger. Especially because I am so inconsistent. But guess what? Now I don't have school, and I don't have a job... so I can update you on all of the happenings around here. 

This is what I have from my camera thus far.

 We went to Arizona to check out the dental school. It was nice (and hot), but we decided on Portland. =)

 I then mummified a stuffed pig with my 6th graders. Betcha can't say you did that this year. =)

 They loved it.

 Then I met the cutest little first graders. (This is a picture of them holding up their art work from our "art gallery" reward. They were SO proud of their dragons and whales.)

 Don't they just melt your heart? They are so presh.

 Just this last weekend, we went to Idaho to Dawson's wedding. Here is Adam with the Mormon Mustang plane. Hey hey!

It's been a good year! There are lots of new changes that I just can't wait for... no school, graduation, new city, new (hopefully) first grade teaching job... it's going to be awesome!
