turkey time in LA

We got to spend Thanksgiving at my family's house in Los Angeles! It was beautiful.

Love the starfish! There was some terrible man that took a whole bucketful of live starfish home.
He clearly wouldn't have made it in Portland.
This is the newest addition to my little family.
This is my kitty, Meeka!

We adopted her from the humane society. She is perfect, two pounds, sneezy, and so so cuddly.
We think she's pretty cute and pretty much a keeper.
I'm so lucky to have a wonderful family. Happy belated Thanksgiving, and Merry early Christmas!

(she was feeling a bit jealous of my computer. haha)

Halloween Time in Oregon

Hello again!

Can I just say that Fall here has been AMAZING! I am loving (mostly) the cooler weather. There haven't been any freak snow storms (like there was in Provo a few weeks ago) and I get to wear cozy sweaters, scarves, and boots! Hooray!

I still love my job. We got to move into the new classroom last week. It is completely awesome- tons of space, toys, computers, tables... it has it all! (and it is BRAND new) Turns out decorating a classroom is slightly daunting. Everything is coming along though, we have a "bear cave" for all of the kids' bear pictures on one wall and we have a fireplace for the cozy corner. So so cozy.

Since I work in a pretty great location, I have decided to pick Dahlias during my lunch break. I got to go romping around in a field picking flowers. It was completely awesome! Here is a picture of my flowers.

Doesn't that flower look fake? It's perfect!
I also got an awesome Halloween package from my mama. It had all kinds of goodies: candles, lollipops, sprinkles, pencils, and a cute CD with spooky jams on it! I also got an AWESOME apron for preschool. So cute.

Do you like my new Fall table centerpiece from the package, too?
 Thanks, Mom!

So realistically, this one post should probably be broken into about 5, but hey. I also made butternut squash soup. It was intense... and all of this food fit into my little baby pot. PS. It was delish.

I also made my mantle all Halloween fancy. Do you like it? I made the pictures in the frames. (OK, I traced and cut stuff out, but hey, I'm impressed with myself.) haha
Have a very happy Halloween! I am going to spend my weekend at a corn maze and do a quick hike/walk around the arboretum (which is literally 5 minutes from my house)!

Pretty, huh?
