Olympics (Two Year Old Style)

Who knew that they Olympics could be so fascinating to a group of two year olds?
Not us, certainly.

We watched short clips of the gymnastic trials, swimming trials, and track trials.
My kiddos loved every bit of every clip.

One girl stood up during the gymnastics and said, "Help me!" (She wanted to do flips.)

Of course they are kids after my own heart, and they LOVED watching Michael Phelps swim.

When I asked them what their favorite parts of the trials were, the majority of them said either Michael "Phaylps" or when the gymnast fell and "broke her knee." (At least they are honest.)

I told them that it wasn't nice to like it when people fall and get hurt. We had nice long feel-good conversations about getting back up and trying again.

I asked again, "What was your favorite part?" and one boy said, "When the girl fell. But she got back up and tried again!"

Another boy said that he liked when the swimmers jumped into the pool. I said, "That was Michael Phelps." He said, "He no fayll (fell). The girl fayll (fell)."
*Meaning Michael didn't fall (Phelps), the gymnast fell. He was very upset that I kept saying Michael fell. :)

Yay Olympics!

kayaking with orcas

So about a month ago, Adam and I got to go up to the San Juan Islands (in Washington) to kayak! It was an amazing trip. We were pretty concerned about the weather. It had been raining hard the day before, and we didn't want to be soaking wet and cold. Adam was more optimistic, but we were in it for the long haul and we went anyways.
Good thing, too, because the weather was beautiful! It didn't rain until the last 5 minutes of our 6 hour or so kayaking trip! We kayaked along the shores of San Juan Island. We saw eagles, seals, starfish, and jelly fish! We paddled through a lot of seaweed (and we even ate some).
We stopped for lunch in a cute little bay. We got to explore some of the tide pools!
We didn't see any orcas while we were in the water, but as we were driving down the road, we saw a pod swimming in the water! It was amazing!

All of these pictures are from a couple that was nice enough to e-mail some to us! We are hoping to put up some more of our pictures as soon as we get our waterproof camera developed.
Yes, they still make those.
No, stores aren't much into developing film anymore.

Brave

I have lots to write about.
I have lots to do.
But let's all take a break and listen to my Wednesday favorite song.
(It's from a pretty awesome movie, BTW.)
